Custom Gift Sub Promos — More Hours, More Tokens!

Last year we launched the Custom Discount Promotions * * beta, giving Partners and Affiliates the power to run their own customized gift sub discount events. As a reminder, this features allows you to:

• Give viewers a 35% discount on gift sub bundles of 5 or more
• Create special events to drive engagement and support
• Choose when to run promotions to align with important moments for your channel
• Customize the duration of your promotions based on your available remaining hours and tokens

Next, we’re making some updates to this feature based on your usage and feedback.

On February 1, all monetized streamers will have their promotional allotment reset to 24 hours of promotional time and three promo tokens. Then, every three months (May 1, August 1, November 1, and so on) you will be given an additional 24 hours of promo time and three more promo tokens. After this update, if you choose not to use all of your promotional time and tokens during a given period, you’ll be able to save up to a maximum of 96 hours of promo time and 12 tokens. This amounts to an annual increase of 37% more promo hours and 71% more promo tokens!

We’ve also added a Start a Promo quick action button to the Stream Manager page of your Creator Dash and extended the deadline to use the 70 hours of promotional time granted last year to January 31. Any hours from 2025 not used by then will be lost, so organize a custom promo event for your community ASAP!

Looking further ahead, we’re going to reduce the restriction around starting a custom discount promotion on your channel before a Twitch-wide promotional event starts from a few days to a few hours. We’ll also be adding an alert to the Activity Feed that lets you know five minutes before a promo is scheduled to end. Lastly, we’re planning new ways to remind streamers of their remaining hours and tokens, while also better notifying viewers when a promo event is happening on a channel they follow.

Even though Custom Discount Promotions are still early, we’ve seen how impactful and rewarding this feature already is for streamers and their communities. We’re looking forward to continuing to improve this feature throughout the year, so keep running promos and letting us know what you think!
