Warm up some hot cocoa and grab your coziest blanket, because Holiday Hoopla is back Dec 1 - 12! Gather round the proverbial fire AKA the Holiday Hoopla Shelf on the Twitch front page, where we’ll be showcasing 12 days of festive holiday streams.

The Shelf

To get involved, tag your stream with ‘HolidayHoopla’ and stream holiday themed content like cookie decorating, snowman building, present wrapping, and other festive activities for a chance to join the Shelf! Keep your eye out for the Fairy ModMother who will be making surprise appearances to spread holly jolly cheer in participating streamers’ channels.

Join us at the IRL Inn!

This holiday season, we’re bringing cohorts of Twitch Streamers under one roof to live and go live together. Welcome to IRL Inn: A festive and whimsical livestream exploration of how Twitch Streamers can come together to create holiday magic, in an equally magical, mysterious space.

Each weekend, through three days of livestreams, cohorts of 4x Streamers will participate in collaborative holiday-themed activities to build out the lore of IRL Inn and bring the Holiday Spirit into its halls.

To top off the merriment, IRL Inn will also feature a gaming segment each weekend to showcase the ROG Xbox Ally (sponsored by Xbox & ASUS) and a special mental health awareness segment on our last weekend sponsored by Ad Council and Seize the Awkward.

FAQs

When will I receive my Ugly Sweater chat badge?

To unlock the badge, logged-in viewers just need to download, export, or share a link to a clip from any category between Dec 1- 12. The badge will be delivered in the following few business days after unlocking it. If you encounter issues with receiving your badge, please contact Twitch Support.

When will I receive my limited-time emotes?

Emotes will be delivered to streamers who participate in at least 1 Stream Together or Shared Chat collaboration lasting for 5+ minutes and to viewers who watch / engage with the shared collaboration experience for at least 5 minutes.

Please allow for at least 1 week for your emote(s) to be awarded. Emotes will not be awarded on the weekend. If you encounter issues with receiving your emote(s), please contact Twitch Support.

How does the Holiday Hoopla shelf work?

The shelf shows viewers what they are most likely to click on based on their previous viewership. These appearances are not scheduled, so your channel may rotate in and out of this section at random any time you are live!

How do I check if I’m featured on the shelf?

You won’t be able to see yourself on the Recommendation Shelf whilst live, however you can check if you have been promoted on the Recommendation Shelf on Creator Dashboard > Analytics > Discovery > Views from Twitch > Homepage Recommendations and check Views + Impressions.

How can I be removed from the shelf?

Remove the HolidayHoopla tag from your stream to be removed from the shelf.

Guidelines + Safety

Being on the front page shelf might mean you experience more traffic than usual in your streams. To keep yourself and your community safe in the instance of an influx of new viewers, we recommend the following safety settings:

• AutoMod set to Level 2
• Email and phone chat verification turned on
• Followers only mode for at least 10 minutes
• Shield Mode setup (activate only when needed)

Please review your Content Classification Labels to disclose the content you’re streaming. You can find this setting in your “Edit Stream Info” page. You will still appear on the Recommendation Shelf - however remember, there are some categories and content we do not show on the Recommendation Shelf such as Pools, Hot Tubs, and Beaches & Gambling.
