Together for Our Mods on Mod Appreciation Day

They keep our communities safe. They care for our communities so they thrive. Moderators are the heart and sword of Twitch. Which is, of course, why the ModLove emote features both heart and sword.  But it’s also why we should do all we can to celebrate mods. And seeing how March 30th is Mod Appreciation Day, you’re invited to join us in honoring all that mods do to keep us safe by spreading :ModLove: in chat and thanking the mods who help care for your favorite channels. We’ve also got some product updates and special announcements below. Read on!

Mods have been the soul of the Twitch Community since pretty much day one. And to support them, we’re working to make more of our mod tools available for those modding on mobile:

  • Messages held by AutoMod are now displayed in the Twitch iOS app. See the reason messages are held, and simply swipe right to allow or left to deny held messages. Support for Android is in the works.
  • Over the next few months, we’ll be working on giving streamers and mods the ability to see viewer logs on mobile so that they have the context they need on viewers’ past sent messages, timeouts, and bans, as well as previous mod comments made on their account.

There are a number of other updates we plan on making this year as we continue to invest in making moderation easier on mobile, so stay on the lookout for more.

We’re also making it easier for mods to submit reports to Twitch with the new “Batch Reporting Tool” that can be accessed in Mod View. During a stream, mods keep a close watch on Chat and may not be able to submit reports to Twitch in real time. Through this new tool, they can see a list of all recently banned or timed-out users and submit reports to Twitch in bulk at a time that makes sense for them, such as during a lull or at the end of the stream. This tool will start rolling out to users in the next week, and we expect it to be available to everyone in the next few months.

For anyone interested in becoming a mod or looking to learn how to navigate these new tools, we’re adding new articles to Creator Camp. You can also tune into on April 18th at 11 am PT, for a live stream on how  to level up your moderation skills using tools like Mod View.

And to keep the mod appreciation going, we’re proud to announce the ModLove Contest (US only). We’re looking to reward the mods that go above and beyond for their communities; the mods who level up Chat and wield their sword and heart like no other. The ModLove Contest winners will get a trip to TwitchCon Las Vegas where they’ll participate in a special panel to share their wisdom and tips to help all of us have a safer time with our favorite communities. Oh, and the ModLove Contest is open for video submissions STARTING RIGHT NOW.

So if you’re a mod and want to enter, this is your time to shine. Or if you’re a streamer who has a rockstar team of mods, make sure you let them know how awesome they are and encourage them to enter. You can find all the ModLove Contest details and submission instructions right here.*

Happy Mod Appreciation Day! Let’s see that ModLove spam in every channel, and don’t forget to thank a mod!
