The Friends Invite-Only Beta is Live

The Twitch community is about to get a lot more friendly. Since we released whispers last year, our community has sent over 300 MILLION whispers. Now we’ve created a Friends List to make whispering even easier.

Adding Friends

Finding your Twitch Friends is easy. Use the new search bar in the left hand navigation to locate your friend and send a request. You’ll also see a list of recommended friends for you based on who you have interacted with in the past so you can easily find the people on Twitch you interact with most.

The Friends List

Once your Twitch Friend accepts your request, you’ll be able to see when they are online and send a whisper with just one click! Now when you send a whisper you’ll know your friend is around to respond and not wasting their life “outside”.

Friend requests also double as a beta invitation, granting the recipient of your request their Friends List and beta invite powers of their own.

We anticipate these invites will spread across the Twitch community like wildfire and at the end of the beta we are rolling out Friends to all of Twitch. So even if you’re not in the initial beta pool, you’ll have access soon.

The Beta

The first round of accounts invited to the beta have already been activated! The initial wave includes those who signed up at PAX East and a lucky few selected by a magic formula created by our Data Scientists (Fun fact: science = magic!)

So if you see your Friends List, get out there and start spreading the beta love to all your friends.
