E3 was just the first of many, many great things on Twitch this summer. The next huge thing is Awesome Games Done Quick’s sister event: Summer Games Done Quick, which starts June 22 at 11 AM PDT (2 PM EDT, 7 PM CEST) on Twitch. For seven straight days, speedrunners will blaze through more than 150 games of choice. Both the old and the new are well represented: I Wanna Be The Boshy, Outlast, Octodad, Portal 2, Mega Man, Mischief Makers, Battletoads & Double Dragon, and Halo are just a few of the games on the list.
Naturally, popular speedrunners representing both Speed Demos Archive and SpeedRunsLive will be in attendance, including Cosmowright, Cirno, Calebhart, SpikeVegeta, and Essentia. These and many more runners will work together for a new SGDQ Personal Best, hopefully beating last summer’s $255,160 donation total. And once that’s done, why not go for the gold and try to match AGDQ’s more than $1 million raised in January?!
Like last year, Doctors Without Borders is the charity of choice. All donations from the SGDQ viewing page, as well as 100% of the money raised by Twitch subscriptions, will go to Doctors Without Borders, so you’ll be able to contribute on both the viewing page and the Twitch channel.
TPP broke the Guinness World Record for most participants on a single-player online videogame with 1,165,140 Twitch community members playing via chat from February 12 – March 1, 2014. This record is so REDiculous we decided to immortalize it through the power of t-shirt.

Under the bright lights of E3, Twitch and Humble Bundle have activated our Wonder Twin powers to come up with an amazing bundle of digital goodies to support the ESA Foundation (ESAF). Together we’re proud to support the ESAF’s mission to improve the lives of children through video games.
We’re honored to work with Humble Bundle and deliver this E3 Digital Ticket in true Humble Bundle style, letting you pay what you want and support charity.
When Typhoon Haiyan devastated the Philippines, many of us here at Twitch were quick to express interest in organizing a charitable campaign. We also knew that, much like Twitch itself, we couldn’t do it without your help. On November 19 we reopened the Twitch store with a special selection of merchandise, the proceeds of which went towards the Red Cross’ efforts. By December 2, the Twitch community had helped raise $90,000 for Typhoon Haiyan Relief.
When we built Twitch, we never imagined that it would be a platform for charity events, but that’s what the Twitch community has made it. Since launching in June of 2011, Twitch broadcasters have raised more than $8 million for charity. That’s a huge milestone and one that everyone can be proud of.
Extra Life is the king of all gaming charity events with thousands of Twitch channels participating, and it begins this weekend.
Speed Demos Archive’s annual Summer Games Done Quick charity marathon is currently live on Twitch, gathering some of the best speedrunners in the world for a great cause. Viewers are encouraged to make a donation to the group’s fundraiser, the proceeds of which will go directly to Doctors Without Borders. With their previous marathon raising close to half a million dollars, there’s no doubt that SDA knows how to raise funds for great causes.
