We’re proud to announce our support of High School Starleague (HSL), North America’s premier esports organization for high schools. With the financial support from Twitch, Newegg, and other companies, HSL has announced today that the top talent in this season’s HSL League system will be competing for over $20,000 in college scholarships! Twitch and NewEgg are each contributing $10,000 toward the scholarship. (I guess you could say the ‘e’ in ‘esports’ means ‘education’.)
UPDATE (4/17): Choice Chamber is now funded! Thanks to the Twitch community for giving the final push. You all made the right choice.

Today, we’re very excited to announce our intent to match the funds needed for Studio Bean to launch Choice Chamber, the first game built specifically for Twitch. Studio Bean currently has a Kickstarter that needs to reach $30,000 in pledges by 7:00pm PT on Sunday, April 20th. We’ve offered to match the remaining amount at the time of this announcement to help turn this concept into a reality! This means we’re covering half of what remains to be raised and are looking to our community to assist with the rest.
Choice Chamber was specifically designed from the ground-up for use with Twitch. In the game, the player fights off a never-ending horde of enemies in dangerous chambers. However, it’s the viewers who decide the player’s fate, as they constantly give input via chat to change the game in real time.
To get the Twitch community involved in Choice Chamber, we’ve recruited some of your favorite Twitch broadcasters to play the game. Here is today’s schedule for the Twitch channels that will broadcast Choice Chamber (all times Pacific):
As the exclusive streaming partner of ReedPOP and in partnership with Newegg, the official PAX East E-tailer, Twitch is excited to bring the PAX East 2014 experience to you. We’ll have a booth (#936), live broadcasts, demos, giveaways, and so much more. In addition to broadcasting from our booth, we’ll also have live broadcasts from two key stages at PAX East on the Twitch/PAX East Event Portal. (<— Click that link now!) This portal is the primary destination to view all PAX programming.
Our booth offers severals ways for fans to experience Twitch. We’ve got a bunch of Twitch-enabled next-gen consoles with headsets from Turtle Beach, Twitch’s official audio partner. The first 250 visitors a day to the booth who try their hand at broadcasting from one of these interactive stations will get a Twitch swag bag with a limited edition t-shirt and commemorative pin!
With these two simple words, thousands of Xbox One owners have made the leap from their living rooms to the vast reaches of the World Wide Web shouting, “Look at me world, [I think] I’m good at video games!”
To help Twitch users consume this yummy goodness, we’ve dedicated a directory solely to Xbox One broadcasts so all of our new Xboxcasters (need to copyright that™) will be easy to find. So whether your game of choice is Titanfall, Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare, Forza, FIFA 14, or any other Xbox One title, you can find the action here.
We’ve got an exciting new first today as Gameloft’s Asphalt 8: Airborne for iOS will be the first ever mobile game to feature Twitch’s live broadcasting functionality. The game will debut its broadcasting capabilities during the week of the Game Developers Conference (GDC) with a 24-hour live stream event on Twitch.
Today we announced that Twitch will be the official live streaming partner of the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). The partnership with the tradeshow’s owner, Entertainment Software Association (ESA), is a three year agreement beginning with E3 2014 that will heighten the global presence for the leading video game event. As the official streaming partner of PAX East, PAX Prime, C2E2, New York Comic Con, BAFTA, EGX London, and others, this news further establishes Twitch as the premier way to attend gaming conventions remotely.

Today we announced the Twitch Mobile Software Development Kit (SDK). This new game developer tool will enable the live broadcasting, capturing and archiving of mobile games. This note was slipped surreptitiously under the door at Twitch HQ:
All praise helix!
TwitchPlaysPokemon has captured everyone’s attention (and an occasional Pokémon) by letting you play a hand in the adventure. While it’s definitely a rough proof of concept as the first of its kind, we’re excited to see the high level of engagement it has received and that others are tapping into Twitch as a platform that lets viewers interact on a whole new level.
