Calling all game devs! The Twitch Plays game category is officially open for business. Ever since the infamous TPP event shook the world back in February 2014, we’ve had tons of fascinating adaptations of the Twitch Plays concept, and we’re now excited to [finally] feature them all in one place.
What’s more, we have some incredible new projects launching today that we’re excited to share with you.
- City Stream – Studio Bean, the creator of Choice Chamber is back! Team up to build and defend a massive geometric city. Whether you’re a builder, gatherer, or at the frontlines of battle, you’ll find your place in City Stream.
- TwitchPlaysZombidle – This PC title is adapted from Berzerk Studio’s mobile game. Level up your very own Twitch character and join forces with the rest of the chat to wreck havoc on the good guys.
- Kid Mech – KidMech is a live-action Twitch robot arena battle game comprising of two teams and an unlimited number of users controlling each bot. Gameplay will cycle between various competitive games including: Battle Soccer, Last Man Standing, and Capture the Flag. The arena features several interactive destructive weapons—such as the saw and flamethrower—that can be utilized to score additional points or weaken the opposition.
- TwitchVersusZombies – Communicate and elaborate strategies with peers in order to eradicate the zombies. In this game where each decision of every individual counts, you will mend, defend, attack, scout, and build your way back to the top of the food chain.
Other active releases featured in the directory include:
T-shirts. They’re the uniform of the gamer. We know because you’ve asked time and again for us to offer Twitch apparel and have happily snapped up said swag with glee. Once again we’ve got some awesome new t-shirts for you, but this time with a wrinkle (‘cause cotton..).
Starting today, in partnership with Teespring, we’re bringing you a selection of t-shirts made by some of your very favorite Twitch broadcasters! And, not just one batch – we’re going to be releasing six shirts every Monday for the next four weeks so you won’t need to do any laundry until October! (But seriously, do your laundry.)
Under the bright lights of E3, Twitch and Humble Bundle have activated our Wonder Twin powers to come up with an amazing bundle of digital goodies to support the ESA Foundation (ESAF). Together we’re proud to support the ESAF’s mission to improve the lives of children through video games.
We’re honored to work with Humble Bundle and deliver this E3 Digital Ticket in true Humble Bundle style, letting you pay what you want and support charity.
Twitch and NVIDIA are excited to announce that as of today you can download and stream to Twitch directly through GeForce Experience. What’s more, this is the first integration that utilizes NVIDIA’s proprietary video encoder. This translates to outstanding video quality, and thanks to the H.264 hardware encoder built into Kepler-based GeForce GTX GPUs, you can stream without having to worry about CPU performance hits.
On Twitch’s road to ubiquity, spanning hardware, software and services, our latest news is that we’re coming to Ubisoft’s Uplay PC 4.0. The Uplay Win program, which allows members to earn prizes through Ubisoft game achievements, will feature the integration of Twitch starting in October 2013.
At the Intel Developer Forum in San Francisco today, Twitch announced it has adopted Intel® Quick Sync Video technology as part of its software development kit. This is significant news for broadcasters since it greatly reduces use of the CPU and helps improve overall video quality when streaming in high definition.
Twitch is all about making it easier for gamers to share their gameplay with friends. The Twitch Broadcasting SDK makes that easier than ever, allowing game developers to build the Twitch experience directly into their games with a click of a button. Now we’re taking that a big step further by opening the developer program to the entire developer community, complete with an innovative new set of tools and resources.
